DeMar DeRozan Supports Year Up LA to Close The Opportunity Divide

DeMar DeRozan

Five million bright young adults are without access to opportunities to connect to the economic mainstream; meanwhile, over the next decade, American companies will face a shortage of over twelve million qualified workers. Entertain Impact is proud to be working with the award-winning nonprofit Year Up, whose mission is to close The Opportunity Divide by providing low-income young adults with the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education.

Entertain Impact engaged four-time NBA All-Star and two-time All-NBA team member DeMar DeRozan in social media support of Year Up. See DeMar’s tweet here

About Year Up

Year Up enables young adults to move from minimum wage to meaningful careers in just one year. In 2018, a government funded study showed an earnings increase of 53% for participants of the Year Up program – the largest impacts on earnings reported to date for a workforce program tested in a randomized control trial. These motivated young people (18-24) are driven individuals with a High School diploma or GED, some of whom are single parents, homeless, formerly in foster care or are overcoming other personal obstacles.
